-
Step 2
Stir in the soup, milk, chicken and peas and cook until the mixture is hot. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve the chicken mixture over hot cooked rice, if desired.

I used to make this when my kids were very young and I was a single parent. My kids loved it and it was fast and easy. Just made it for my daughter 28 now and it was great to reminisce the old days. She still loves it. Instead of leftover chicken I seasoned the breast with fresh pepper, salt, onion powder and fresh celery then cooked slow with a little olive oil. It was great to share this with my daughter after all these years.

I always thought they were just garnish like Parsley, nope, they have a distinct flavor and they are healthy. I just get the cheap ones at the Dollar store and it makes a world of eye-candy and taste difference. Real butter is a must/unsalted for me. Please, no canned chicken, 15min. to cook a piece of chicken breast. Your welcome.

I like to use frozen peas instead of bell peppers. And I also add a jar of pimentos. Also instead of cooked rice or mashed potatoes, I toast an English muffin and pour the a la king on it. Yummy!

I have been making this for years!! everyone loves it. I put it over toast or puff pastry. Pull the center out of the puff pastry then put the a la king inside & put the center you took off back on the pastry. pretty to look at & so easy the kids can make it. I also use the red pementos from the olive jar. I also use Cream of Chicken Soup as I am alergic to Mushrooms. If you try this with cheap soups it won't taste as good so it has to be Campbell's. YUMMMM
